United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties directs its community investments toward the most pressing local needs, guided by clearly defined Focus Areas and Strategies for Community Impact.
Our Focus
At United Way, we’re committed to empowering people of all ages to lead successful, self-sufficient, and healthy lives. Our investments help address critical needs, strengthen families, and contribute to the overall well-being of our community.
Our focus areas include:
Health & Wellness: Creating opportunities for healthy, secure, independent, and meaningful lives.
Education, Early Childhood & Youth Supports: Providing the tools, relationships, and structures children and youth need for success.
Income, Self-Sufficiency & Family Well-Being: Promoting pathways to economic stability and resilience.
Critical Needs: Delivering life-saving services, emergency assistance, and disaster relief.
When applying for United Way funding, grant seekers need to identify the specific focus area and strategy their proposed program will address.

We fund programs that demonstrate measurable results and strengthen our community through these key strategies:
Cost-Effective Results: Investing in programs that achieve meaningful impact efficiently.
Fiscal Responsibility: Supporting agencies that demonstrate sound financial and management practices.
Collaboration & Partnerships: Encouraging initiatives that build strong partnerships and community networks.
Addressing Root Causes: Focusing on long-term solutions to persistent community challenges.
Leveraging Resources: Maximizing local assets and resources beyond the annual campaign.
