United Way Launches Day of Caring, Uniting Communities

St. Bonaventure University Women’s Rugby volunteers help at the Warming House kitchen.

The United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties is excited to announce the launch of an annual Day of Caring, set for May 16, 2024. The event will match volunteers to projects at nonprofit agencies throughout the community.

“We’re so excited for this event,” Sue McAuley, Executive Director, said. "This is a great opportunity for volunteers and nonprofits in our community to come together."

United Way is currently looking for projects for volunteers to complete. The projects can be at  non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, and government agencies. Project durations can be either half-day (3 hours) or full-day (up to 6 hours), allowing agencies to tailor their needs and volunteer commitments accordingly.

Projects are not limited to traditional building and yard work but should reflect the agency's creativity in addressing both agency and community needs. Agencies may submit as many volunteer projects as they need, with no limit on the number of projects they can propose.

To submit a project for the event please visit www.uwcac.org/dayofcaring or contact outreach@uwcac.org.

The United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties brings people together to build strong communities where everyone thrives. They tackle tough challenges and work with private, public, and nonprofit partners to boost education, economic solutions, and health resources.
