Community Day Newspaper Sale Returns Thursday, June 4, 2026

Josh Bell from the Eaton volunteer team sells paper on a rainy morning in Olean.

Starting at 6:30 a.m., Thursday, June 4, United Way volunteers will be at key intersections across Olean, Allegany, Portville, and Salamanca, selling special $1 editions of the Olean Times Herald during the annual Community Day newspaper sale.

More than just a long-standing tradition, the event helps raise awareness of the many local programs and services supported through United Way. Each paper highlights the work of partner agencies making a difference every day in the lives of children, seniors, families, and individuals throughout our counties.

Organizations featured through Community Day include groups such as Girl Scouts of Western New York, Genesis House of Olean, and the YMCA of the Twin Tiers, among many others providing critical support and opportunities within the community.

Rain or shine, volunteers will be out throughout the morning sharing smiles, gratitude, and stories of hope in our towns. Whether you’re heading to work or grabbing your morning coffee, be sure to say hello and grab a paper.

“Every year, we’re amazed by the generosity and spirit of the community during Community Day,” says Executive Director Susan McAuley. “This event is a chance not only to support United Way, but also to recognize and celebrate the organizations working every day to help our neighbors thrive.”

So mark your calendar, tell a friend, and join us Thursday, June 4.

Together, we can create positive change – one paper at a time.
