One Dollar. One Paper. One Community United.
Community Day Newspaper Sale Friday, June 6, 2025
Starting bright and early at 6 a.m., Friday, June 6, United Way volunteers will be out at key intersections across Olean, Allegany, and Salamanca, selling special $1 editions of the Olean Times Herald to support our annual Community Day.
Each paper sold helps shine a light on the incredible work being done by local organizations funded through United Way – groups like Directions in Independent Living, Houghton Royal Family Kids Camp, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier, to name a few. It’s more than just a newspaper. It’s a symbol of what we can accomplish when we come together.
Last year’s event raised over $3,900 – one dollar at a time. That’s thousands of small acts of generosity that added up to big impact for neighbors in need.
Rain or shine, we’ll be there – spreading smiles, gratitude, and hope throughout the morning. Whether you’re commuting to work or grabbing your morning coffee, be sure to stop, say hello, and grab a paper.
“Every year, we are amazed at the generosity of the community during this event,” says Executive Director Susan McAuley. “We want to thank everyone who continues to support United Way and the programs that help our neighbors thrive.”
So mark your calendar, tell a friend, and join us Friday, June 6. With your help, we’ll make this Community Day our most impactful yet.
Together, we can create positive change – one paper at a time.
