United Way Fire Truck Pull Returns Oct. 17

Do you think your team has what it takes to pull a fire truck? The United Way of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties is inviting community members to test their strength and teamwork at the 2026 United Way Fire Truck Pull from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at Lincoln Park in Olean.

Teams will work together to pull a fire truck 50 feet. Each team will have three attempts to achieve the fastest pull.

Team registration is $100. Proceeds from the event will go to supporting local charities through United Way grants. Register online at uwcac.org/firetruckpull.

“We’re really excited to pull this event together again,” Susan McAuley, United Way executive director, said. “Special thanks go to Paul Eade, owner of Eade Fitness and former United Way board member, for helping us bring back the fire truck pull. We’re also grateful to the City of Olean Fire Department and Fire Chief Eric Mourand, for providing the fire truck and volunteering to steer it during the competition.”

Teams will consist of either five men, seven women, or three men and three women. Team members must be 18+ to compete. Registration is limited to 30 teams. Competitors are encouraged to bring their own gloves.
