Seventh Annual Pump & Run Set for August 1 in Olean

Community Fitness Challenge to Benefit United Way

Get ready to lift, run, and give back at the 7th Annual Pump & Run, taking place Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event begins at Eade Fitness 24/7 in downtown Olean and finishes at Four Mile Brewing, combining strength and speed in support of a great cause.

Founded by Eade Fitness owner and former United Way board member Paul Eade, the Pump & Run is a unique competition that blends bench pressing and a one-mile run, all to raise funds for the United Way of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties (UWCAC).

Participants begin by bench pressing a weight determined by their age group. Once all lifts are complete, runners take off on a one-mile course through downtown Olean, ending with a celebration at Four Mile Brewing. Each bench press repetition takes time off the runner’s final mile time, making strategy just as important as performance.

“The Pump & Run is a fun, high-energy event that brings people together and showcases the best of our community: strength, perseverance, and generosity,” said Sue McAuley, UWCAC executive director. “It’s a great way to challenge yourself while supporting programs that make a difference right here in our region.”

Proceeds from the Pump & Run benefit the United Way, helping to fund critical local programs that support youth opportunity, economic stability, healthy communities, and more.

The United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties brings people together to build strong communities where everyone thrives. They tackle tough challenges and work with private, public, and nonprofit partners to boost education, economic solutions, and health resources.
